Finger Rage
There's been plenty talk about foreigners not giving the proper respect to our senior citizens in Singapore. And, even about foreigners physically abusing our fairer sex.
The two incidents were widely publicised on the Internet and who knows, there might have been some background information that led to those unfortunate events. I'm only a outside bystander, preferring to withhold all judgment.
However, I recently had a personal experience about how indeed Singapore expats are treating our people with little respect. And it was a really short incident, to boot.
When crossing a busy road, it's inevitable that cars will occupy some space in the pedestrian crossing. Being a Saturday, all modes of transportation were obviously out on the roads in full force.
And when a poor taxi was stuck on said pedestrian crossing, what should I see but a middle finger raised, right in front of the taxi's side window! A Caucasian middle finger, I should add.
Evidently, this man wasn't raised to keep his opinions to himself at the appropriate times. Why let such a tiny and insignificant thing raise your heckles? Isn't it easy to just breathe and let the rage flow out of your system?
Men...they just don't get it.
